STAMP IT REVISITED

After the Crit with Jo and Amber it came to my knowledge that using vinyl or foiling is terrible for the environment which is definitely sending out a contradicting message. Since then I have gone back corrected my stamps getting rid of the mirrors. I have used simple shapes to try and visually communicate my intended recycle messages. It was recommended that I should maybe consider looking at a pointing finger to emphasize the message of responsibility. I am happy with the stamps but it was just a bit of a shame as quite liked the mirrors.

Testing

It was a bit boring having the hand on all the stamps so I decided to
go for simple shapes

STAMP IT // PRESENTATION BOARDS

STAMP IT// FINAL PRODUCTS

After a long trip to Sydney Beaumont's I was able to obtain some mirrored vinyl for my stamps. Using the vinyl cutter I was able to cut out the necessary shapes for my stamps. I decided to print the stamps onto sticker paper to make the stamps instantly usable. I am extremely happy with how the stamps came out. I experimented adding mirrored queen heads to some of the stamps which was fiddly but I definitely think it gives them an edge.

Much needed vinyl!

Unfortunately I am missing 2 mirrored sections which I will try print
out tomorrow as this is letting this set of stamps down.

STAMP IT // DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

For my set of stamps I wanted to keep the message simple and clear so I went for the reduce, reuse recycle concept. I have played on the users guilt with the stasmps. I incorporated mirrors into the stamps stating that its "your responsibility for the planets future" I think this has a strong impact. I aimed the stamps and the younger generations I wanted to use strong colours to draw you in and I feel the mirrored aspect is eye catching too.

I started off creating the green and purple set of stamps firstly. I chose green and purple as green symbolizes nature and recycling and purple is royalty and wisdom which I think represents the message.
The stamps work as a series so the mirror spreads
across all 4 stamps.
This is the message I am trying to communicate.
I experimented making patterned backgrounds that correspond to
each message.
Type experiment - I thought the white would break the image up a bit but I
think it just ruins the stamp.

I looked at using wisdom script for the smaller font
but I figured at a small scale this would be
illegible.
Here is my final idea for this set of stamps. I think the type reads well
I changed the 2nd font to helvetica as this is the most legible font
I feel.

Stamp Booklet
I experimented making the booklet. I tried mixing some shapes up
with the type but it didn't work well. I didn't have enough room
to do what I intended.
This is the final design for this set of stamps. It is simple
and works well with the stamps.

For my next set of stamps I decided to put individual mirrors
on each of the stamps to see if the message was communicated
any better. I think overall these stamps do work better.
They are allot more eye-catching and interesting to look at.

I like how these stamps look. They are easy to read and
eye-catching
I decided to play around with the colours as all the stamps look pretty similar.
I think this works well. I have included the price in these too.
I tried the purple and green combo. In a few shades and found this one
worked best and was easiest to read

The type is quite difficult to read on the darker
purple background

Booklet
I tried keeping everything in series so the booklet is
in the same style and colour scheme I will print
these on a satin finish to give them a professional
quality.

STAMP IT // DESIGN SHEETS

Last night I spent the entire evening drawing up ideas. I am quite happy with the variety of ideas I have generated, I have tried addressing the issues of recycling, reducing emissions, environmentally friendly transport and alternative energy sources. We had a crit today and I received lots of positive feedback.

Here are my design sheets:

I have decided to look into foiling as I want to include a mirror image
across the stamps. As a reflection of the consumer being
responsible for the planet.
 Energy Saving tips
Similar colours to the Czech stamps I have been
looking at
Would be nice to spread the image across all 4 stamps,
looks nice if they work as a set

Crit Feed Back

I think the feedback I have recieved has been quite beneficial. some of my ideas are not quite as clear
as they should be so I need to work on them and develop them. I will research into foiling like
suggested as this could result in quite a nice outcome. My messages are quite clear but I just need
to execute the stamps to perfection now. I will keep designing and researching.
