BRIEF TITLE: D&AD
TED BAKER
Why
have you chosen to work with your creative partner? What are your aims?
I have chose to work
with Mikey as I feel we both have different skills that will compliment each
other and we also get on well and have similar interests and hobbies. Mikey is
really good at photography and layout, and we also share a keen interesting in
branding and identity. I feel by combining our skills we have the potential to
come up with something quite interesting. I have a love of illustration and
print production methods, so I feel between us we will create a well designed
perfectly executed piece of work. As we both have an interest in branding we
have chosen briefs that we can play to our advantages.
I think it will be a
good experience to carry out a brief with a like minded individual, between us
I think there is the potential to come up with something very different to what
we might come up with on our own.
What
are your specific areas of creative interest in this brief?
I have recently
developed a love of branding and identity. So this was something we wanted to
look into further. I also like the fact that you are designing to fit into
another country, so this could result in some interesting research and design
development, as we would be designing for another culture. It will be fun to
design in a style different to what I am used to. Also being a proud brit it will be quite fun
to represent the country.
What
specific design skills do you have to offer in relation to your chosen brief?
How do you intend to use them?
Hopefully my love for
drawing will carry through the project, it might be quite nice to combine a
illustration and photography element to the brief. I also think my print
production skills will come into play with this brief, as I am keen to
experiment further with screen printing, laser cutting etc. this may allow for
some interesting final pieces.
What
specific non-design skills do you have to offer in relation to your chosen
brief? How do you intend to use them?
I think my confidence,
and presentation skills have improved allot this year, and this will help when
pitching our ideas to the group to get feedback, which will help to improve and
develop our concepts.
Also our enthusiasm
for the topic will drive us through, as we will be focussing on another country
and culture it will be a fun process researching and designing for a different
audience.
What
will your specific roles be in the collaboration in relation to your brief?
To start with we will
both research into the topic, we will need to pick a country first, but when we
have that down we will both research different aspects.
I may look at the
target audience, and ways of promoting.
Mikey will look into
the culture and existing design.
After we have got our
concept down and carried out all our research we will work together to come up
with our products playing to our strengths. It is hard to delegate tasks
already when we have not even got a concept down.
What
will your individual responsibilities be in relation to your brief?
As we do not have the
concept down yet, we don’t know exactly what we will be doing, but we will play
to each other’s strengths throughout the project.
What
will your joint responsibilities be?
Design Development
Concept Generation
Self-Critiquing.

What are your specific areas of creative interest in this brief?
I have recently
developed a love of branding and identity. So this was something we wanted to
look into further. I was also drawn in by the fact that this brief is kind of
like a guerrilla campaign, which allows lots of possibilities. I think this
brief could go many ways, from clothing to installations, there are many things
to discuss.
We like the challenge
of informing an audience about a Churchill, as he is a great british figure
that could be quite challenging to make popular amongst a younger audience.
This brief seems fun and different.
What specific design skills do you have to offer in relation to your chosen brief? How do you intend to use them?

What will your specific roles be in the collaboration in relation to your brief?
I will be researching
into WW2 and Churchill, also his hobbies and interests.
Another thing I will
be looking at is guerrilla advertising and viral’s maybe as this is essentially
what the project is about
Mikey will be
researching Churchill too, looking at famous quotes
Also he will be
looking at his hobbies and interests.
This would be the
starting point.
down.
